The Product Line Manager for Precision Optics (PLM) is the product visionary for key and innovative optics in the industry. By developing and executing a product strategy that is consistent with Edmund Optics’ technological vision and core competencies, PLMs improve customer acquisition and retention and ensure profitable growth.

• Define overall vision and strategy for select products, supported by realistic ROI and corporate strategic plan.
• Develop new standard products, product lines and custom capability offerings for their specific product areas.
• Communicate product strategy and plan to stakeholders.
• Create business cases, plans, roadmaps, forecasts and competitive analysis.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with sales, R&D, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to establish plans and technology for new product initiatives.
• Direct functional groups without direct reporting authority.
• Work with marketing to define multi‑channel, geographic and customer‑segment strategies.
• Stay current with scientific literature, trade shows and conferences; share insights with the team.
• Evangelize products internally and externally through training and industry events.
• Maintain relationships with key suppliers, partners and customers.
• Assemble and lead teams of subject‑matter experts for projects.
• Qualify, screen, hire, mentor Product Line Engineers and Applications Engineers; delegate responsibilities through the team.
• Comply with state, company policies, procedures and regulations.

• Strong optics product, manufacturing, and technology knowledge.
• High personal initiative and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
• Strong leadership skills; ability to motivate and train people.
• Ability to manage heavy workload of multiple concurrent projects.
• Creative problem solving and critical thinking.
• Comfortable with MS Office software.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• U.S. Citizenship or permanent residence required.

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, or related technical field; two (2) years experience in application engineering, manufacturing engineering, product line engineering and/or managing products in the optics field.

Ability to travel; work in office and/or lab setting.
