Overview
Find Talent is partnering with a well-established leader in the utility construction industry to identify an experienced Senior Estimator
. This role will oversee large and multi-project proposals, ensuring the development of accurate and competitive cost estimates across transmission, distribution, substation, and civil/site projects
. The Senior Estimator will lead the estimating team, manage bid processes, and collaborate with operations, project management, and subcontractors to deliver successful outcomes. - Lead the preparation of comprehensive cost estimates for large or multi-project proposals, including equipment, labor, material, and subcontractor inputs.
- Manage and coordinate cross-functional teams during the bidding process to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project and client requirements.
- Oversee the development of proposal packages for stipulated price, design-build, and construction management contracts.
- Review and finalize bid submissions with clients, ensuring project scope, options, and objectives are fully addressed.
- Provide detailed budgets from conceptual through final design stages, maintaining consistency with business goals and strategies.
- Mentor and guide junior estimators, providing technical expertise and ensuring professional growth.
- Support project management teams with accurate proposals, subcontractor details, and documentation for effective execution.
- Track ongoing project cost changes, unit pricing, and database updates to align with project budgets and client expectations.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to drive current and future project success.
- Develop and implement best practices and standardized processes for the estimating function across business units.
- 10+ years of estimating experience in utility construction (transmission, distribution, substations, and civil/sitework).
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
- Proficiency in Heavy Bid estimating software is required.
- Strong background in take-offs, labor and material cost analysis, subcontractor bids, and procurement pricing.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret RFPs, plans, and specifications; experience conducting site visits.
- Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, Word), Primavera/MS Project, Bluebeam, and HCSS heavy civil tools.
- Proven track record of leading estimating teams and mentoring junior staff.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines under pressure.
- Understanding of construction methods, industry codes, safety standards, and union labor agreements.
