Summary

At the Philadelphia Hand and Shoulder Center, we diagnose, treat, repair and manage the complete rehabilitation of injuries to the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Provides patient care in accordance with established protocols and patient care guidelines.
  • Responsible for timely documentation, including but not limited to daily notes, weekly workers compensation reports, progress reports, initial evaluations, discharge summaries, and incident reports.
  • Responsible for documenting in a compliant fashion that is in accordance with company policy and state federal guidelines.
  • Responsible for assuring that patients are treated promptly in accordance with their scheduled appointments.
  • Responsible for conveying to patients the importance of complying with established plans of care, including home exercise programs and minimizing cancellations and no show of appointments. This is tracked independently with the expectation of achieving at 90% appointment kept rate.
  • Responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care.
  • Responsible for the delegation of appropriate patient care activities to the occupational therapist assistant that are in accordance with that employee's skill level and deemed appropriate by state practice act.
  • Responsible for the supervision of occupational therapist assistant activities.
  • Respinsible for the delegation and supervision of non-patient care activities of the clinical aide.
  • Consults with referring physician as needed through documentation and as well as verbally.
  • Responsible for pursuing continuing education in the form of formal classes, reading of periodicals, and other literature.
  • Responsible for always maintaining the highest standards of professional conduct that best represents the company.
  • Provides practice in functional, prevocational, and homemaking skills and activities of daily living.
  • Coordinates participation in sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help patients or disabled persons develop or regain physical or mental functions or adjust to disabilities.
  • Consults with other members of rehabilitation team to select an activity program consistent with needs and capabilities of indiviudal and to coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities.
  • Selects constructive activities suited to individual's physical capacity, iltelligence level, and interest to upgrade individual to maximum independence, prepare individual for return to employment, assist in restoration of functions, and aid in adjustment to disability.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A) from a four year college or university: or one to two years of related experience and/or training: or equivalemt combination of education and experience.
  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist in the state of Pennsylvania and New Jersey required.
  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) License required. (Preferred)
