Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician I
Department: Ophth-O-Cherry Hill
Location: Scheie Eye Institute South Jersey – 1940 Route 70 E
Hours: Mon‑Fri office hours
Summary: The Ophthalmic Technician exhibits UPHS organizational behavioral competencies and is accountable for the provision of direct care to patients across all ages. They work closely with the inter‑professional health care team to facilitate coordinated care, develop individualized care skills, and comply with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies. The Ophthalmic Technician assists the Ophthalmologist with direct patient care, completes patient medical and ocular history, and performs various related tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Completes medical and ocular history on all patients
- Completes chief complaint and allergies on all patients
- Completes health screening questions including falls, abuse, depression screening
- Documents all medications on all patients
- Completion of surgical, all procedures, and pre‑cert insurance forms when required
- Schedule MRIs and retrieve reports if applicable
- Collaborate with pharmacies to ensure patient prescriptions are filled
Credentials:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support CPR (American Heart Association) required within 6 months of hire
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant
- Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician
- Complete all assigned competencies and become certified within 18 months of hire
Education or Equivalent
Experience:
H.S. Diploma/GED
Salary Range: $21.69 – $34.05 per hour
