Position SummaryThe DME Fitter and Coordinator will be responsible for fitting and maintaining the DME schedule for patient delivery. The Coordinator will also be responsible for the care, authorizations, and maintenance of the equipment and supplies, as well as the overall cleanliness of the fitting rooms. The Coordinator will work with a team of MAs and billing staff to ensure that all patients receive the best care possible.
- Measure, schedule, and fit off-the-shelf orthopedic bracing.
- Instruct patients regarding the use of orthopedic bracing products and other orthopedic devices.
- Ordering products and maintaining inventory.
- Check patient benefits and perform pre-certification for certain orthopedic products.
- Communicate patient questions or concerns regarding orthopedic products with physicians and staff.
- Communicate with product representatives and vendors regarding product complications or issues.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Perform duties of co-workers and subordinates as workload dictates.
- Ensure all necessary documentation regarding payer requirements and standard operating procedures is obtained.
- Perform patient/customer scheduling, education, order processing, delivery, and courtesy call back.
- Comply with all HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and other required programs.
- Procurement and insurance processing of DME.
- Certified Athletic Trainer (pending certification ok). Experience working in a DME provider's office, physician’s office, rehab clinic or hospital, or similar role - preferred but not required.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Knowledge of DME protocols is recommended.
- Inventory Control Management.
- Must be able to work at different locations.
- Ability to perform required physical requirements of the position (standing, sitting, walking, bending, squatting, etc.).
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more as needed by the patient.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Experience with medical bracing and DME is preferred but not required.
