You’ll be part of a team of 24 people responsible for managing all aspects of Accounts Receivable. This includes tasks like setting credit limits, releasing orders, collecting payments, verifying claims, handling eCommerce back‑office work, reconciling accounts, and allocating cash. The role focuses on meeting collection targets, reducing overdue balances, and resolving queries quickly. You’ll work closely with the Risk Management team and report to the Financial Operations Director.

The role is fast‑paced and varied, with no two days being the same. You’ll join a motivated and supportive team that values learning, development, and challenging the status quo.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day‑to‑day AR activities for high‑profile customer accounts with large outstanding balances.
- Reconcile complex accounts using Excel to analyze and present detailed data.
- Monitor overdue balances to ensure they are reduced within set targets.
- Collect outstanding payments from customers within agreed payment terms.
- Build strong relationships with both internal teams and external customers while providing excellent customer service.
- Release orders promptly while adhering to credit policies.
- Meet collection, overdue balance, and query resolution targets in line with company objectives.
- Investigate and resolve errors or issues on customer accounts through root‑cause analysis.
- Hold regular reviews with your manager to discuss account performance.
- Accurately forecast monthly cash collections.
- Train other team members in collections processes as needed.
- Process marketing claims accurately by working with relevant teams and ensuring proper documentation is provided.
- Complete scheduled tasks such as weekly reporting, internal audits, and other ad‑hoc duties related to AR.
- Participate in cross‑department projects to improve processes and systems.
- Escalate unresolved queries to appropriate stakeholders to find effective solutions.
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English.
- At least 5 years of experience in an accounting or credit control role, ideally in a corporate environment.
- Strong Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables).
- Experience handling large‑scale reconciliations and understanding customer systems/processes.
- Knowledge of sales deductions and trading contracts is essential.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with sales and marketing teams while adding value to customer relationships.
- Highly organized, hardworking, tenacious, and positive in a fast‑moving environment.
Success means building strong relationships with customers, ensuring invoices are paid on time, resolving queries efficiently, and keeping accounts up to date. Meeting tight deadlines for overdue balances (aging KPIs) is critical. Accuracy is key, along with compliance with company guidelines.
