Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Dietetic team at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a permanent Band 6 Diabetes Dietitian. The role is permanent and full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, and committed Dietitian who will work as part of our dynamic multidisciplinary diabetes team based at the Stephanie Marks Centre at Ashford and St Peters Hospital. The team works closely with the Diabetes colleagues, Dietitians, other health care professionals, carers, patients and family members to optimise glycaemic control and improve long-term health and quality of life.
Responsibilities- Provide expert diabetes dietary advice to patients and their carers including structured education and other education relevant to individual management of diabetes.
- Support the management and coordination of the insulin pump service for the Trust, in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
- Develop and deliver expert nutritional care for patients throughout their outpatient journey.

The Diabetes Dietetic team form part of the Ashford and St Peter's Dietetic Department to provide nutrition and dietetic services to patients and their carers including structured education and other education relevant to individual management of diabetes. This role will include working with the Band 7 Diabetes Dietitian to manage, coordinate and support the Insulin Pump service for the Trust, in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will provide Diabetes dietary advice to patients and their carers including structured education and other education relevant to individual management of diabetes.
The successful candidate will contribute to student training. Flexibility, good organisational and prioritisation skills are essential to this role. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent teamwork and enthusiasm.

- To provide expert Diabetes dietary advice to patients and their carers including structured education and other education relevant to individual management of diabetes with particular emphasis on calculation of carbohydrate intake and appropriate adjustments to insulin doses as agreed with the Diabetes team and in line with written policy
- With support and training to take a role in supporting the Insulin Pump service for the Trust, providing advice concerning the dietary care planning for patients using diabetes insulin pumps, glucose monitors and hybrid closed loop systems in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team
- To support specialist consultant clinics:
General Diabetes clinics, Diabetes complication clinics, Young Adult Diabetes clinics, Gestational Diabetes clinics, Transitional Diabetes clinics (children transferring to young adult clinics) - Contribute to dietary policy development in diabetes and to work as an integral part of the Diabetes Team, contributing to the policies for the team as a whole
- Educate and train other health care professionals, junior dietitians and dietetic students
