This an exciting opportunity to join Runnymede Borough Council as we continue our positive work keeping Runnymede Borough clear of waste. As the Waste and Street Care Supervisor, you will be involved with deploying a major round reorganisation programme, building the service ready for handover to the new West Surrey authority and a key member of the management team responsible for delivering the daily service requirements.
As a supervisor in Runnymede you will assist the Operations Manager to deliver a successful, safe and reliable service by being responsible for:
- Oversee and aid the day-to-day supervision of operational street scene teams, ensuring high service standards.
- Act as a key point of contact for the public, elected members and external organisations, managing enquiries, complaints and service requests.
- Monitor health and safety compliance across operations, updating risk assessments and assisting incident/accident investigations.
- Coordinate staffing, vehicles and equipment with agencies and internal teams to maintain full service delivery and continuity.
- Use and maintain BARTEC waste and street scene systems, ensuring accurate updates, configuration, and operational feedback integration.
- Assist recruitment, training, appraisals and staff management activities, including participation in rota duties, bank holiday cover and out-of-hours emergency response.
- Assist with wider street scene functions including fly-tipping investigations, civil emergency response and general operational assistance across the service.

We are looking for a resilient and committed individual to join our team who can provide excellent leadership to the waste collections team . We are looking for exceptional candidates with a range of skills including:
Brings proven supervisory experience within the Street Scene industry, with knowledge of HGV operations and basic mechanical understanding.
- Communicates clearly and professionally with a wide range of audiences, both verbally and in writing, and provides excellent customer service.
- Confident using technology, including MS Office and waste management systems such as BARTEC (training provided if needed).
- Demonstrates strong organisational skills, able to plan, prioritise and meet tight deadlines while managing conflicting demands.
- Works effectively as part of a team, remaining calm under pressure and focused on achieving positive outcomes.
- Able to manage customer relationships, resolve enquiries and complaints, and maintain a high standard of service delivery.
- Holds GCSEs or equivalent (including Maths and English) and is open to new ways of working to support continuous improvement.
- Holds route-planning experience alongside an full Cat C licence and up to date CPC, supporting efficient operational delivery.
- Use strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to respond effectively to operational challenges.
- Apply knowledge of driving and working hours regulations to support safe and compliant operations.
- Manage competing priorities while building strong relationships with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
