The role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Retailer Specifications Technologist to join a dedicated technical team.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy, compliance and quality of finished product specifications and associated documentation.

Key responsibilities include:

Creating and maintaining accurate finished product specifications and artwork Ensuring compliance with all food safety, legal, quality and authenticity standards Coordinating information across internal teams and manufacturing partners to support new product specifications Supporting new product development by providing accurate specifications at key project stages Managing change control processes and ensuring updates are communicated effectively Responding to customer enquiries through the collation of detailed technical information Supporting certification processes (including relevant product accreditations) Monitoring updates in customer policies and legislation, assessing their impact on products and processes Contributing to continuous improvement of specification systems and processes Maintaining accurate records and supporting wider team activities as required This is a varied and fast-paced position, offering the opportunity to work cross-functionally and make a real impact on product integrity and customer satisfaction.

The candidate To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical expertise combined with excellent attention to detail and a proactive mindset. Key requirements include:
Degree (or equivalent) in a food science or related discipline Significant experience in product specification creation and maintenance within the food industry Experience working with major retailer specification systems Solid understanding of food safety standards, including HACCP Working knowledge of UK/EU food labelling legislation Strong understanding of ingredients, allergens, and production processes Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills You will be a driven and motivated individual with a “right first-time” approach, a keen eye for detail, and a collaborative style that enables you to influence and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
