Duties

Performs a variety of general accounting tasks to compile, prepare, review, and verify financial and statistical records in support of Finance directorate. Responsible for maintaining subsidiary ledgers, performing account reconciliations, examining accounts to verify accuracy and adequacy of supporting data, documenting discrepancies, and creating adjusting journal entries to bring reports and listings into balance. Creates, organizes, maintains, and updates files and records utilizing database and spreadsheet software, other online applications, and manual systems;

maintains an audit trail of documents and records. Abstracts and analyzes data reflecting financial condition and operating results, prepares accounting and financial reports, and presents this data. Assesses complex accounting transactions, determines corrective action, and recommends changes in procedures to prevent recurrence. Resolves intricate accounting issues to ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting data. Communicates with and provides technical support to internal and external clients, assists clients in interpreting and following proper accounting procedures, and trains other staff in compliance with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Provides year‑end audit support and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • One year of specialized experience in accounting procedures, techniques, and terminology; entering and retrieving data in an automated accounting and/or billing system; reconciling, adjusting, balancing, and maintaining accounting transactions. OR

    Education:

    Four years above high‑school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university. OR combination of education and experience.
  • Intermediate experience with Excel.
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.
