Construction Materials Testing Field Technician
Join Froehling & Robertson, Inc. to help ensure public safety by traveling to construction sites to inspect contractors' work and perform basic field soil and concrete tests. Your findings will be entered directly on smartphones/tablets for real‑time transmission to project managers.
What you’ll be doing- Perform field materials testing of soil, asphalt, masonry, and concrete.
- Prepare detailed field reports with all test results and observations.
- Conduct laboratory tests on soil and concrete and produce reports.
- Evaluate site and subgrade conditions, providing recommendations.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and engineering staff regarding construction issues.
- A High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- Prior construction or field testing experience preferred.
- ACI Level I Concrete, State DOT, WACEL, or ICC certifications in soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry are a plus.
- Ability to multi‑task, meet deadlines, and work independently or in teams.
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Literacy in plans, specifications, safety rules, and operating instructions.
- Basic math skills for field and lab calculations.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, lift, carry, push, and pull up to 70 pounds.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; willingness to pass background, drug, and driving checks.
