Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads – both students and employers – for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. Position Summary:
Tutors provide academic support to increase student academic achievement by meeting with students to clarify learning objectives and outcomes and work on study skills. Tutors serve as a supplement to classroom or online teaching. Tutors assist faculty, deans, and the Learning Assistance Supervisor in supporting the student success initiatives of Tidewater Community College.
Functional Responsibilities:

• Support students in a one-to-one, small-group, drop‑in, or online tutoring format(s) to provide learning assistance in mathematics.
• Tutor students in basic computer literacy to include accessing student email, creating and saving documents and other file types, and navigating Canvas.
• Assist students in building high‑impact study strategies and leveraging academic resources to promote course success.
• Participate in team meetings, tutor‑training sessions, and professional development training.
• Partner with instructors to offer outreach‑learning opportunities in the classroom and team up to offer course‑relevant workshops.
