The Staff Structural Engineer plays a critical role in delivering world‑class civil and structural designs for major infrastructure projects, with a strong emphasis on waterfront and marine structures such as piers, wharfs, bulkheads, and fender systems. This position requires a technically strong engineer who can balance design integrity, budget, and client needs, while contributing to both office‑based engineering and occasional site visits.
The role offers the option of a 9/80 schedule and requires candidates who bring hands‑on civil/structural design—not just project management experience.
- Lead civil/structural design work from conceptual phase through completion.
- Design and analyze civil and structural components for a variety of infrastructure projects.
- Apply advanced knowledge of civil/structural engineering concepts, principles, codes, and practices.
- Conduct research and compile project‑related studies, data, and reports.
- Prepare and review drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Lead client presentations and conduct shop drawing reviews and contract administration.
- Perform and oversee field inspections, measurements, and engineering calculations.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, supporting skill development and project contributions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support overall project execution with strong organization, communication, and design leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or related engineering field from an ABET‑accredited program; OR bachelor’s degree in engineering technology (ABET) and successful completion of the FE exam.
- Minimum 3–5 years of civil/structural engineering experience, preferably in consulting.
- EIT certification required; PE license strongly preferred or ability to obtain within one year.
- Advanced knowledge of standard civil/structural engineering techniques and procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to work independently and lead technical tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with engineering software, including AutoCAD, Micro Station, BIM/Revit, Civil 3D, RISA‑3D, and other analysis tools.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring ability, attention to detail, and collaboration skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States without restriction.
- Waterfront or marine structural experience.
- Experience leading or facilitating technical presentations.
- Experience in field inspections or construction support environments.
- Civil/structural engineering design
