To learn more about Mission Technologies, for a short video: Who We Are HII Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled and experienced Piping CAD Engineer to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the design and drafting of complex piping systems for naval ships and other defense projects. You will use Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed 2D and 3D models and drawings, ensuring all designs comply with engineering specifications, industry codes, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical or naval engineering and a meticulous attention to detail.
This position is contingent upon contract award. What You Will Do
* Performs engineering functions in one or more of the following specialties: electronics, electrical, mechanical, civil, naval, and/or chemical.
* Works closely with design originators preparing drawings of unusual, complex or original design.
* Prepares drawings, which require a high degree of precision.
* Performs unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise.
* Assures that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation and operation are resolved by the drawing produced.
* Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on knowledge of the design intent.
* Provides advice, guidance, and instruction to drafters.
* May serve as primary point of contact for complex drafting projects.
* Ability to prepare a complete drawing package without supervision.
* Calculates Weight and Moments changes as a result of drawing.
* Calculates electrical loads or heat loads for specific drawing and provide proper breakers, cable type/size or heat exchanger for requirements.
* Selects proper material for structural members.
* Assists Electrical/Mechanical engineers for stress/electrical/mechanical calculations.
* Revises drawings to reflect As-Installed Conditions.
* Ability to utilize World Wide Web for research.
* Ability to research existing conditions and where to find that information. What You Must Have
* 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field. 4 years of additional equivalent experience can be substituted for a BA/BS.
* Candidate must be a recent graduate with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or graduating college senior who is in good academic standing and pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program is required prior to starting employment.
* Candidate must have the ability to lead Site Visits to vessels and shore sites to gather technical data for drawing development.
* Candidate must be completely knowledgeable with all tools of the trade (CAD program, rulers, compass, divider, calculator etc.) and complete knowledge of drafting and design standards.
