Senior Technician - Construction Materials Testing

Intertek Building & Construction seeks a Senior Technician to join our Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Chesapeake, VA. This role focuses on construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

Key responsibilities include operating testing equipment, interpreting plans, maintaining equipment, performing site observations, and reporting data.

• Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (e.g., soil, concrete, or other) and provide assessment of data through reporting
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, and diagrams
• Maintain and calibrate standard equipment
• Perform complex assignments; use specific methods and perform tasks to make detailed observations of site activities and give limited interpretation of results
• Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results
• Attend project meetings and communicate effectively with client and project teams

• 5+ years of related materials testing experience required
• At least one of the following certifications is required:
  • ACI Field, ATTI Field, ICC Reinforced Concrete, and ICC Soils Special Inspector OR ACI Special Inspector
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
• Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed
• Physical requirements:
  
  ability to lift 30‑50 pounds frequently, occasionally >50 pounds with assistance; kneel/squat occasionally; walk and stand for long periods; work outdoors in adverse weather; climb occasionally; work overnight and off shift
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and discriminate sounds

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Other industry specific certifications
