Network Technical Advisor with Security Clearance
The Network Technical Advisor will support MITS with approving engineering configurations and installation drawings as needed. They will provide technical direction, testing, engineering, and troubleshooting guidance, topology drawings, and support all MITS efforts as directed. They will drive continuous improvement with respect to engineering activities in safety, regulatory, compliance, production, testing, research/development, and costs, supporting continuity of day‑to‑day operations while U.S. Navy ships undergo extended periods of maintenance and upgrades.
- Serve as the leading member of the Networking team, responsible for installation, maintenance, and overall technical administration of temporary LAN systems, wireless connectivity solutions, and related projects.
- Ensure 24/7 availability, integrity, security, and reliability of all network systems.
- Oversee design, implementation, and execution of network security hardware/software maintenance and upgrades.
- Provide infrastructure engineering, maintenance, and support for complex network security systems that protect multiple enterprise networks.
- Manage technology programs, define milestones and success criteria, allocate resources, and deliver projects on time.
- Work with core teams to develop and articulate tactical plans and long‑term strategies for MI Technical Solutions, initiating new programs, managing work, engaging engineers, and setting the pace for development, deployment, and delivery of networking systems and infrastructure.
- Utilize technical judgment when working with large, cross‑functional teams.
- Communicate schedules, priorities, and status to all company levels.
- Assist with network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies.
- Configure network hardware such as servers, access points, routers, and switches.
- Provide troubleshooting support for network issues within established guidelines.
- Validate equipment requirements and build‑of‑materials (BOM) as required.
- Work on projects or matters in a leadership and/or support role.
- Define and document best‑practice and support procedures and train users in proper use of hardware and software.
- Research and recommend current and future technology resources, purchases, and services to meet organizational needs.
- Assist in analyzing designs and network models as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Network Engineer Technical Advisor.
- Adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish role requirements.
- Design, configure, and test networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in Network Operations/Security or equivalent work experience.
- Prior experience as a Navy Network System Administrator or equivalent.
- Over 4 years of related experience managing, troubleshooting, and correcting incidents for Consolidated Afloat Network and Enterprise Services (CANES) family of systems including SABI/TSABI – RADMERC, Blade Centers, VTC, and Networker/Veeam Backup solutions.
- Detailed knowledge of networking systems such as LAN, firewalls, routers, servers, printers, VMware vSphere, vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA).
- Hold active security clearance or be eligible for clearance.
- Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot Wi‑Fi and security infrastructure.
- Certifications:
CompTIA A+, ITIL Certification, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+; CCNA preferred. - Familiarity with Navy organizational structure, processes, and procedures.
