Position: Water / Wastewater Design Engineer

We are seeking a Water / Wastewater Design Engineer to support the planning, design and delivery of infrastructure projects across water supply, wastewater collection, treatment and related civil engineering works. This role will involve working on projects from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design, construction support and completion, while ensuring solutions are safe, practical, sustainable and compliant with relevant standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities will include preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings and schedules; developing hydraulic models and design solutions for pipelines, pumping stations, treatment facilities, storage systems and associated infrastructure; reviewing surveys, site information and existing asset data; and coordinating designs with multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders. You will contribute to site investigations, inspections, risk assessments, design reviews and construction support activities, helping to resolve technical issues and maintain project progress.

The role may also involve assisting with tenders, fee estimates, project programmes and mentoring junior engineers or technicians.

Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, water engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant experience in water and/or wastewater design. You will need sound knowledge of hydraulic principles, engineering standards, design software and industry practices, as well as the ability to interpret technical information and produce accurate, high-quality deliverables. Experience with hydraulic modelling packages, CAD and other engineering tools is desirable.

Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to manage priorities, work collaboratively and engage confidently with clients and project stakeholders. Professional registration or progress towards professional accreditation would be advantageous.
