Overview
The Ultrasound Technologist produces two dimensional, ultrasonic recordings of internal organs to be used by the prescribing Physician in the diagnosis of diseases and in the study of the malfunction of organs.
Responsibilities- Select equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examination
- Explain process to patient, and instruct and assist patient in assuming physical position for examination
- Select transducer and adjust equipment controls according to the organ being examined, depth of field, and other specifications of test
- Key test data and patient information into the computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results
- Move transducer, by hand, over specified area of body and observe sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced

- Confirm patient identification prior to procedure by verbal confirmation on outpatients and identification band on in-patients
Minimum Required
Education:
Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
Experience:
1+ years related experience and/or training, breast ultrasound experience preferred.
Applicants must be registered or registry eligible through ARDMS or ARRT. If registry eligible, the applicant must be ARDMS or ARRT registered within 3 months of employment. BLS required.

- Required:
Associates - Preferred: breast ultrasound or related experience/training
- Am Reg Diag Med Sonograph
- Basic Life Saving
- Medical Records
