** Overview
* * Works under direct supervision of the Retail Pharmacy Services Director. May be designated as pharmacist-in-charge per VBOP regulations. Provides required oversight for pharmaceutical services, pharmacy technicians, including preparation and dispensing of drugs, specialty pharmacy, meds-to-beds, transitions of care, scheduling and other retail pharmacy services. Ensures pharmacy customer/patients receive medications in a timely manner.

Maximizes customer/patient quality of service within boundaries of expertise. Maintain and develop inter-professional relationships with providers and nursing staff to promote retail/ specialty pharmacy growth. Performs all duties per state board regulations. Must work effectively with minimal supervision. Must maintain a professional decorum at all times.

The Retail Pharmacy Supervisor provides pharmacy leadership for services provided and serves as a primary resource for the pharmacy daily operations. Supports staff development through regular communication and team huddles. Stays current with pharmacy law and practice regulations specific to retail and specialty pharmacy. Assists the organization through process improvement and development to improve quality and safety of the medication dispensing process.

* * Ensures Compliance with regulations and standards required for daily operations and standards required for daily pharmacy operations
* Demonstrates the ability to assess, implement, and evaluate pharmacy workflow that contributes to pharmacy growth and superior patient care. Consistently demonstrates evidence-based competency that reflects current pharmacy practice and seeks to attain knowledge of current practice.
* Consistently strives for customer service excellence by addressing the customers' needs regardless of assignment. Demonstrates respect, concern and empathy for the spiritual, cultural, emotional and information needs of patients, customers and co-workers. Works cooperatively with all staff members; voices concerns and suggestions to appropriate persons in a positive manner. Demonstrates sound professional judgement consistent with clinical/academic background.
* Pharmacist Organizational Involvement:
Maintains current pharmacist’s license, attends management meetings, sustains professional competence and promotes development through participation in department meetings, huddles, workshops, seminars and professional organizations. Completes all competencies and skills assessment requirements.
* Achieving retail/ specialty pharmacy goals in the areas of retail prescriptions, specialty pharmacy prescriptions and consultations employee prescriptions and med-to-beds prescriptions. Supervises pharmacy personnel. Prepares work schedules and monitors workload statistics; maintains appropriate staffing levels to match workload to promote patient safety. Assists with budget review annually and reviews monthly financials to ensure expenditures are within budget guidelines. Monitors and justifies all expenses exceeding budget.

Assists with monthly financial reporting and payroll submission
* Demonstrates the ability to establish an environment of safety and assure safe practices for the patient as evidenced by recognizing and implementing safe medication practices, and following policies and procedures that comply with regulatory agency regulations. Develops, Implements and maintains a program that improves the quality of pharmacy services, improves medication safe use, and supports the quality improvement plan of the organization.

Establishes productive, collaborative relationships with staff members and within the RHS community
