SAIC is looking for Network Administrators with experience in US Navy IT networks to support the sustained operation and maintenance of a newly deployed naval enterprise transport network, ensuring 24/7/365 availability and reliability. The position will support end‑to‑end network, system, and element visibility; facilitate rapid operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning to maintain the operational integrity of a mission‑critical network, requiring both technical expertise and a commitment to excellence in service delivery.
This position is onsite in Suffolk, VA.
Responsibilities- Provide Tier 2 level engineering operations support to quickly identify, triage, and address outages, analyzing symptoms and potential root causes to implement effective resolutions or escalating to Tier 3 support as required.
- Utilize advanced monitoring tools and processes to oversee network infrastructure, monitor the performance and availability of managed services and systems across multiple exchange points, and ensure optimal performance.
- Perform day‑to‑day maintenance, fixes, configuration corrections, software and hardware updates, and deployments.
- Adhere to system and operational reporting obligations.
- Operate and maintain the privileged access solutions.
- Maintain continuous verification of failover processes and disaster recovery procedures.
- Operate and maintain hardware upgrade processes and procedures.
- Update and maintain any software builds applicable to deployed equipment.
- Enact change management for the solution.
- Operate and maintain existing incident management processes.
- Keep firmware, software updates and patches up to date for equipment.
- Support the design, analysis, planning, modification and maintenance of the network and network components supporting data, voice and/or audio communication activities.
- Support analysis of short/long term capacity needs for switching, routing, transmission and signaling.
- Conduct testing of network systems.
- Support the evaluation of new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and two (2) years of relevant experience supporting a large network infrastructure.
- Four years of additional experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Active TS/SCI.
- Experience with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), access control lists, Layer 2 switching, spanning tree, packet analysis, and Spine‑Leaf architecture.
- Plus experience with Arista switches, Palo Alto firewalls, TAP and network visibility (e.g., Gigamon, Net Scout), SD‑WAN and spine‑leaf architecture, working with VLANs and VRFs, configuring IPSEC tunnels, and troubleshooting routing issues.
- Working knowledge of SD‑WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN devices.
- Understanding of TCP/IP in regard to routing and subnetting.
- Capable of supporting TACACS+ on Cisco ISE and ISE Cube.
- IAT Level II required (Sec +), CCNA/CCNP. Six‑month waiver authorized to obtain.
- Must be able to work shifts to cover a 24x7 operational environment.
