About the role
As a Network Architect, you will own the stability, security, and scalability of a mission‑critical, multi‑site hybrid enterprise network. Acting as the organization’s highest technical authority, you will shape long‑term architecture strategy, drive modernization, and ensure the environment remains secure and resilient. You will partner with engineering, operations, and leadership to build and optimize a high‑performance network foundation that enables digital transformation will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with the Engagement Delivery Lead.
Responsibilities- Lead the most complex and business-critical network escalations as the top-tier technical authority.
- Perform deep root-cause investigations and deliver long-term corrective and preventive initiatives.
- Architect and evolve enterprise network designs that improve resiliency, scalability, and security.
- Drive modernization initiatives across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud platforms.
- Create and maintain HLDs, LLDs, standards, and configuration frameworks that elevate engineering consistency.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and advocate for strategic investments that advance network capabilities.
- Provide expert leadership during audits, compliance initiatives, and large-scale transformation programs.
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure the network supports evolving business and technology roadmaps.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Chesapeake, Virginia.

What you need to have to be considered- 8+ years of experience operating in complex, enterprise-scale networking environments.
- Expert knowledge of core routing and switching technologies: OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, STP, VXLAN.
- Advanced experience with major firewall platforms:
Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point. - Strong grounding in secure network architecture and best-practice design principles.
- Hands-on experience with cloud networking across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- Expertise in enterprise wireless technologies such as Cisco and Aruba.
- Advanced experience with SD-WAN and SASE solutions.
- Proficiency with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools including Solar Winds, DNAC, and Net Brain.
- Ability to lead high-pressure troubleshooting efforts and enterprise-level architecture discussions.
- Experience with automation and orchestration for network operations.
- Familiarity with zero-trust frameworks and advanced segmentation patterns.
- Experience integrating networking with virtualization technologies including VMware NSX and Hyper-V.
- Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, or cloud networking credentials.
