Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift in Chesapeake, VA

ICU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location:
  
  Chesapeake, VA 23320 (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (September 2, 2025 – December 2, 2025)
• Shift: 4x12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:30); 48-hour contract with overtime after 48 hours
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1780 - $1910
• Employment Type:

  Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Patient Ratios: 1:2-3
• Orientation: 16 hours

ICU RN Qualifications And Requirements

• Active Virginia or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license required at time of application
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience (3 years preferred; strong candidates with less experience considered)
• Strong neuro ICU experience (post-neurosurgical, EVD, and stroke care) required
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record (EHR) charting system
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• NIHSS certification
• Must pass EKG testing (80% or higher, no remediation)
• Willingness to float to Stepdown Unit and ED/Med Surg as needed
• Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (local candidates not accepted)
• No license or background issues permitted
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to ICU patients, including neurosurgical, post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, trauma, sepsis, and post-cardiac cath cases
• Manage ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, and perform emergency interventions
• Perform conscious sedation, dysrhythmia management, and respond to code situations
• Float to Stepdown Unit and ED/Med Surg to support ICU-level patient care as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and more
• Accurately document patient care using the EPIC EHR system
• Comply with all hospital policies, safety protocols, and healthcare compliance standards
