Summary
The Venous Access RN is an expert in IV therapy and serves as a resource in the assessment and evaluation of patients for appropriate venous access. The Venous Access RN is competent in the insertion and/or care of venous access devices including ultrasound guided peripheral IVs, midline catheters, peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC), central venous catheters, and mediports.
Education and ExperiencePreferred Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Required Experience:
2 years recent acute care nursing experience
Preferred Experience:
Previous vascular access or IV therapy nursing experience
Required:
Applicant must be licensed to work as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or compact state. Must have current BLS certification. Must have a Central Line certification from an approved provider or obtain within one year of employment.
Preferred Certification:
Vascular Access – Board Certified (VA-BC)
