Job Opportunity – Surgical/Trauma ICU RN – Virginia
Start Date: October 26, 2026
Location: Virginia
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 13-week assignment, night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week available, 2:1 patient ratio, every other weekend required, must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated.
Highlights:
- Fast-paced 15-bed Surgical/Trauma ICU in a Level 1 trauma facility
- Care for adult surgical and trauma critical care patients with multisystem conditions
- Epic EMR required; 24 hours of orientation provided
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and radiology
- Up to 40 hours of time off available during contract
- Specialized equipment experience including CRRT, rapid infuser, and blood warmer
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of ICU nursing experience required
- Active Virginia RN license (pending licenses accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; TNCC preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- Level I or Level II trauma experience strongly preferred
- Experience with 2:1 patient ratios in critical care setting
- Must be willing to float within scope of practice per facility policy
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- BSN preferred
Clinical Skills:
- Proficiency in arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management
- Experience with ventilated patients and high flow nasal cannula
- Competency in blood product administration and continuous IV sedation
- Ability to titrate vasoactive drips and interpret arterial blood gases
- Skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with ICP monitoring, EVD management, and traumatic brain injury care preferred
- Competent in managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
