Job Opportunity – Neuroscience Intermediate Care RN – Virginia
Start Date: November 9, 2026
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 13-week assignment; 36 or 48 hours per week; day shift; every other weekend and every other holiday required (must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays); 1:3 patient ratio
Highlights:- 12-bed neuroscience intermediate care unit serving critical care and neuro stepdown patient populations
- Diverse case mix including neuro trauma, subarachnoid/intraventricular/intracerebral hemorrhage, post-neurosurgery, ENT cancer resections with flap reconstruction, and spinal cord injury patients
- Epic EMR experience required; 24 hours of orientation provided
- Up to 40 hours of approved time off available during contract
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and physical therapy
- Care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations with complex neurological conditions
- Active RN license in Virginia (pending licenses accepted if in hand by Wednesday before start date)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with neuroscience/neuro stepdown patient populations strongly preferred
- Skills required:
neuro assessment, craniotomy care, CVA management, intracranial bleed monitoring, telemetry, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP, blood product administration, and management of cardiac/vasoactive drips - Willingness to float within scope of practice as needed per facility policy
- BSN preferred
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
