Maintenance Worker, General Labor, Heavy Equipment Operator, Building Maintenance
The Town of Vinton Public Works Department is seeking dependable, safety-focused Equipment Operators to support essential community operations and maintenance. This position plays a key role in keeping Vinton's streets and public infrastructure functioning smoothly for our residents.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, skid steers, and other machinery used in Public Works operations
- Perform street maintenance, utility work, snow removal, storm response, and other municipal service tasks
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report necessary maintenance
- Follow all town, state, and federal safety policies and procedures
- Assist with manual labor and crew duties when equipment operation is not required
- Work collaboratively with Public Works teams to complete projects efficiently and safely
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment preferred
- Valid Virginia driver's license; CDL Class B or ability to obtain required
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and teamwork
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
