A two-form entry primary school in Chesham is seeking a highly motivated and reflective Year 1 Class Teacher to join its dedicated team on a permanent basis from September 2026. Staff work collaboratively across year groups, sharing planning and best practice to ensure consistency and high-quality teaching.

The leadership team is supportive and approachable, with a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and professional development.

• Have a secure understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, particularly in Year 1, including the Phonics Screening Check
• Plan and deliver engaging, well‑structured lessons that meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and disadvantaged pupils
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to early reading, phonics, and language development
• Use assessment effectively to inform teaching and support pupil progress
• Set high expectations for behaviour, attainment, and presentation
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
• Show a commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice
• Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities and events

• Have experience teaching in Year 1 or across Key Stage 1
• Are confident delivering phonics (e.g. Little Wandle or similar schemes)
• Have a strong understanding of early reading and writing development
• Bring energy, creativity, and a passion for primary education

• A permanent, full‑time teaching position on the Main Pay Scale (MPS) or Upper Pay Scale (UPS), depending on experience
• A supportive and collaborative working environment within a two-form entry structure
• High-quality CPD opportunities, including support for ECTs and leadership pathways
• Dedicated PPA time with year group colleagues
• Well-resourced classrooms and access to a wide range of teaching materials
