Our Speech and Language Therapists work as part of a team, supporting learners in accessing all aspects of the curriculum, as well as liaising with parents/carers and other external professionals and agencies. Working closely with education staff, you will advise and support staff in delivering therapy programmes, the use of specialised equipment and approaches. The role would involve:
- Working directly with individual learners and with small groups
- Assessing, advising and programme planning for individual learners in speech, language and the social use of communication.
- Working collaboratively within the classroom and with the wider education and therapy team
- Monitoring and reviewing learners progress, maintaining notes and reports to a high standard
- Keeping learners parents and carers up to date with their programmes and progress, and contributing to the Annual Review report process
- Providing training and advice to school staff
Teaching is highly effective because teachers, support staff and therapists work together in a coherent way to meet pupils' individual needs , Ofsted report, June 2019.
The successful candidate will be a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with experience of learners with additional needs. They will be organised, motivated and ambitious to be part of high-quality provision, working both strategically and responsively. Dysphagia training would be desirable but not essential.
