Accounts Receivable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join a team in Cheshire, Connecticut in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position is suited for someone who is comfortable managing incoming payments, supporting invoicing activities, and maintaining accurate account records in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, clear communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with customers and internal partners to keep receivables current.

Responsibilities:

- Process customer payments accurately and apply cash receipts to the appropriate accounts in a timely manner.

- Prepare and issue invoices while reviewing billing details for accuracy and completeness.

- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up with commercial clients to resolve past-due accounts professionally.

- Reconcile daily cash activity and investigate discrepancies between bank records and internal account balances.

- Maintain organized accounts receivable documentation and update customer account information as needed.

- Respond to client questions related to invoices, payments, and account status with a high level of customer service.

- Partner with internal departments to address payment issues, support account resolution, and improve collection outcomes. Requirements - At least 2 years of experience in accounts receivable or a closely related accounting support role.

- Hands-on experience with cash application, billing support, and commercial collections activities.

- Ability to reconcile cash transactions and assist with bank reconciliation tasks accurately.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective client and internal stakeholder interaction.

- Solid customer service approach with the ability to handle account questions professionally.

- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills when managing financial records and payment activity.

- Proficiency with standard accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
