Probation Service Officer (PSO)

Location:

Cheshunt.

Hours:

37 per week. Duration: 6 months, rolling contract. Pay Rate: £22.89 per hour (umbrella, limited company).

• Manage a caseload of offenders assessed as low or medium risk of harm, supporting Probation Officers on higher risk cases.
• Complete offender management tasks including assessments, reviews, and risk management plans.
• Maintain accurate case records on OASys and other case management systems within agreed timescales.
• Liaise with Probation Officers, intervention staff, service providers, and external agencies to coordinate offender progress and manage risk.
• Carry out prison, home, and community visits in line with probation service policy and procedure.
• Work in line with the aims and values of the National Probation Service (NPS).

• Experience working within probation, criminal justice, youth offending, or a related field.
• A relevant degree or professional qualification in probation, social work, criminology, or similar is desirable.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Sound understanding of risk assessment and the criminal justice system.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
