About the Opportunity
Our client, a real estate development company, is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to help bring new real estate developments from raw land through approvals and construction. This is an opportunity to work directly on the developer side, with involvement throughout the development process.
The ideal candidate brings at least 8 to 10 years of civil engineering experience, strong CAD knowledge, and experience developing sites of 50 acres or more. They should understand how to move plans through municipal review and support projects through construction.
Responsibilities
• Guide civil engineering planning for large scale real estate development projects, from initial site evaluation through construction.
• Manage the plan approval process, coordinating with municipal staff, reviewing agencies, and outside consultants to address comments and secure necessary approvals.
• Review site plans and engineering drawings, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, roadways, and erosion control.
• Use CAD to review, evaluate, and communicate proposed designs and revisions.
• Coordinate with architects, surveyors, engineers, contractors, and the development team to keep projects moving.
• Identify site constraints and engineering issues early, recommending practical solutions that support project feasibility, budgets, and schedules.
• Support construction by resolving field issues and coordinating changes to approved plans as needed.
Qualifications
• At least 8 to 10 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
• Experience with ground up real estate development on sites of 50 acres or more.
• Demonstrated experience moving development plans through municipal review, permitting, and approval processes.
• Strong understanding of CAD and the ability to read and evaluate civil engineering drawings.
• Working knowledge of site design, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and infrastructure.
• Experience coordinating with municipalities, consultants, and construction teams.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem solving skills.
Preferred Experience
• Familiarity with development approvals in Westchester County and surrounding New York municipalities.
• Experience managing multiple projects through different stages of development.
• Professional Engineer license in New York.
