Learning Support Assistants – Flexible Contracts – Secondary Schools – Chester

What You’ll Do
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support:
    Work closely with students who need extra help, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Deliver targeted interventions:
    Help students understand tasks, breaking down learning materials so they are accessible and engaging.
  • Manage classroom behavior:
    Use a calm demeanor and de‑escalation techniques to keep vulnerable or frustrated students focused and feeling safe.
  • Implement EHC Plans:
    Assist in delivering tailored support outlined in students’ Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Promote inclusion:
    Encourage independence while ensuring students feel fully included in the wider classroom environment.
Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about student progress and possess excellent interpersonal skills. You are a great fit if you:

  • Are incredibly patient, empathetic, and resilient when supporting students who face barriers to learning.
  • Have experience working with teenagers or vulnerable individuals (e.g., care work, youth mentoring, sports coaching, or volunteering).
  • Are highly adaptable and able to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the update service (or are willing to obtain one).
