Tutor, Special Needs ​/ Learning Disabilities, School Counselor

1:1 Tutors – Cheshire West and Chester – £30/hr – Flexible Roles Available

Teacher Active is proud to be working with local authorities and education providers across Cheshire West to recruit experienced and dedicated Tutors to support children and young people who are currently outside of mainstream education.

We are looking for passionate and resilient Tutors with experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and those who may display challenging behaviours. This role involves delivering personalised tuition across both Primary and Secondary age groups, helping students re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

The Role:

As a Tutor, you will provide tailored 1:1 support designed around each learner's individual needs, abilities, and educational goals. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people who require additional support to access learning.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience working with children and young people with SEND and SEMH needs

Experience managing and supporting challenging behaviour in educational or care settings

A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Experience teaching or tutoring Primary and/or Secondary-aged students

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

The ability to adapt learning strategies to meet individual needs

A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach

What You'll Do:

Deliver high-quality, personalised 1:1 tuition sessions in safe, agreed locations (e.g. pupil's home with parent supervision, public space like a local library)

Build rapport with students who may have disengaged from traditional education

Work collaboratively with parents/carers, education consultants, and local authorities

Support reintegration into school settings or transitions to specialist provision

Adapt your teaching style to suit a wide range of needs and backgrounds
