Maths and English Tutor – Chester

Our tutors act as coaches and mentors, not just instructors, supporting each learner’s progress with care and purpose.
Responsibilities- Deliver tailored lessons using our smart learning tool, Compass, facilitating learning through questioning, scaffolding and stretching.
- Build meaningful relationships with a 16-child ratio, creating a safe, inspiring environment where children can take risks.
- Drive academic progress by supporting members through the national curriculum, entrance exams, and GCSE preparation.
- Manage small group sessions, maintain positive behaviour management, prioritise safety and wellbeing.
Skills & Qualifications
- Confidence leading sessions with small groups (16), inspiring engagement.
- Comfortable supporting children aged 4-16 across the national curriculum, including 11+ entrance exams and GCSE content.
- Committed to building long‑term relationships with children, providing consistency and stability.
You must be 16 or over and have the right to work in the UK. You must have achieved a grade 6 or above in Maths & English Language at GCSE level (or equivalent; predicted grades acceptable if results within the next 3 months).
Contract and HoursPermanent, part‑time role. Minimum 6 hours per week over at least 2 different weekdays. Available shift start times:
- 3.30 – 4 pm Tuesday
- 3.30 – 4 pm Wednesday
- 3.30 – 4 pm Thursday
- 3.30 – 4 pm Friday
- Morning/afternoon Saturday
This is not a summer‑only role; we seek dedicated tutors for the next academic year and beyond.
Pay and ProgressionBase hourly rates:
- Under 18: £8.40
- 18‑20: £10.90
- 21+: £12.75
Additional 50p per hour if working at a centre inside the M25. You will be paid for all training and inductions. Earn more as you progress—annual improvement based on hours tutored.
