1. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Drawing and Design:
The Project Design Engineer must be proficient in Solid Works (3D) and AutoCAD (2D). They are expected to be involved in the drawing and layout aspects of the projects from the start, including design work on bespoke equipment.Project Management:
The role is a dual one, involving both drawing/designing and managing projects from start to finish.
They must take ownership of projects from the inquiry stage through to order, installation, and commissioning.
They will be responsible for managing project timelines, budgets, and the coordination of activities across various departments, such as purchasing, installation, and commissioning.
Site Work and Client Interaction:
The Project Design Engineer will need to visit client sites to measure systems, liaise with clients, and ensure project progress.
The engineer may also be involved in overseeing installation and commissioning processes, working alongside installation teams and engineers.
The Project Design Engineer will be working under the direction of Tom Brown, who is responsible for running the office and overseeing projects.
The role involves close collaboration with other team members, including the engineering and installation teams.
Essential Skills:
Strong proficiency in Solid Works (3D) and AutoCAD (2D) for drawing and design tasks.
Ability to take a project from initial inquiry to completion, including the necessary project management skills.
Willingness to be hands-on in both design and project management.
Experience:
Experience with process equipment, dust filtration, material handling, and bespoke systems is a plus.
The ability to work in a process-oriented environment with materials like powders, ducting, and silos.
The role is primarily based at the office in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. It is an office-based position, but the engineer will also be required to visit client sites across the UK.
Travel:
There will be some travel for client visits and installations, but it is not daily. The engineer needs to be flexible with travel arrangements.Office Presence:
The engineer is expected to work from the office five days a week. Remote working is not an option for this role, as it requires regular site visits and collaboration.
While the company provides training (including courses like P601 and P602), the engineer should be ready to step up quickly in terms of project management. Solid Works and AutoCAD proficiency are critical from the start.
Salary:
The salary for the Project Design Engineer role is expected to be between £30,000 and £45,000, depending on experience.Pension Scheme:
There is a company pension scheme with contributions from both the company and the employee.Holiday: 25 days of holiday per year, plus bank holidays. This increases after five years of service.
