An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chemical Engineer to join a specialist manufacturing business working on the development of innovative chemical processes. This role will focus on the development and scale-up of specific chemical processes, taking projects from laboratory and pilot scale through to industrial production. You'll work closely with international colleagues and will travel to Europe approximately twice a month to support the scale- up of a new manufacturing facility.
We are looking for someone with experience gained in an industrial process environment, ideally within chemical manufacturing, speciality chemicals or process engineering. However, exceptional PhD Chemical Engineering graduates with relevant research in process development will also be considered.
Responsibilities
• Develop and improve fluorination processes from laboratory through to production scale.
• Plan and carry out process trials and experimental work.
• Support the design, commissioning and optimisation of a new manufacturing process.
• Work closely with engineering, production and project teams across the UK and Europe.
• Identify process improvements and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Participate in process safety activities including HAZOP and risk assessments.
• Produce technical documentation and ensure engineering best practice is followed.
• Travel to Europe monthly.
The Person
• Educated to degree level (or PhD) in Chemical Engineering.
• Industrial experience within chemical manufacturing, speciality chemicals or another process manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Experience of process development, process optimisation or scaling up manufacturing processes.
• Good understanding of process safety principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Happy to travel overseas monthly.
