We are looking for a Transport Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing Transport & Mobility team
. This is an opportunity for an engineer with experience in transport, highways, infrastructure and drainage design to develop their technical skills while contributing to a diverse range of UK projects.

Working alongside experienced engineers and project managers, you will support the planning, design and delivery of transport and infrastructure schemes. These may include active travel and public realm improvements, highway schemes, development infrastructure, rail interfaces and wider mobility projects.

The Role

You will contribute to the development of practical and sustainable engineering solutions, supporting projects from feasibility and early-stage assessment through to detailed design, technical approval and construction.

You will also work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors and regulatory authorities to support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare transport and infrastructure designs, engineering drawings, calculations, reports and technical documentation.
  • Support feasibility studies, technical assessments and early-stage design development.
  • Collect, analyse and interpret transport and traffic data to inform engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to highway and infrastructure design, including Section 278 and Section 38 designs and technical submissions.
  • Develop highway drainage, surface water management and SuDS solutions for infrastructure schemes.
  • Undertake drainage design and modelling using appropriate industry-standard software.
  • Apply relevant standards and guidance, including DMRB, Sewerage Sector Guidance and Local Authority requirements.
  • Support the assessment and evaluation of engineering options, identifying technical constraints, risks and opportunities.
  • Participate in site visits, inspections and surveys under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Assist with monitoring construction and improvement works, identifying and reporting technical issues.
  • Support project delivery, programme coordination, contract administration and client requirements.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
  • Support work-winning activities, including technical input into bids and proposals.
  • Apply digital tools and continuous improvement approaches to enhance project outcomes.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant technical standards, regulatory requirements and emerging industry practices.
  • Share technical knowledge and provide support to junior team members where appropriate.
  • Take ownership of your professional development and work towards professional accreditation, if not already achieved.
What We’re Looking For Education and Professional Development
  • Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning or a related discipline.
  • Working towards professional accreditation through an appropriate institution, such as ICE.
  • Incorporated Engineer status, or progress towards chartership, would be advantageous.
Experience
  • Typically 3 to 6 years’ experience in transport, traffic, civil or infrastructure engineering.
  • Experience contributing to transport, highway or infrastructure design projects.
  • Experience supporting feasibility studies, assessments and the development of engineering solutions.
