SOX Accountant

The SOX Accountant is responsible for supporting and maintaining compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), specifically Sections 302 and 404. This role ensures the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR), assists in risk assessments, performs control testing, and coordinates with internal and external auditors to ensure regulatory compliance.

• Assist in the planning, execution, and documentation of SOX compliance activities.
• Perform walkthroughs and testing of internal controls over financial reporting.
• Identify control deficiencies and support remediation efforts.
• Maintain and update process narratives, risk and control matrices (RCMs), and flowcharts.
• Coordinate with process owners to ensure timely completion of control documentation and evidence.
• Monitor and evaluate changes in business processes that may impact internal controls.
• Support quarterly and annual SOX certifications.
• Liaise with external auditors during interim and year-end audits.
• Track remediation of control deficiencies and ensure timely resolution.
• Assist with enterprise risk assessments as needed.
• Recommend improvements to strengthen internal control processes and increase efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in public accounting, internal audit, or SOX compliance.
• Strong knowledge of SOX 404 requirements and internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO).
• Experience with control testing and documentation.
