Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time, permanent Occupational Therapy Technical Assistant working within Ancora House. Our team consists of qualified OT staff and Technical Instructors working within a large MDT with nursing staff, medical staff, psychology, speech and language therapy, specialist eating disorder service and educational staff.
The successful applicant will work as part of the Occupational Therapy Team, taking direction from qualified OT staff while also showing initiative and self-direction when working independently. The Trust supports the Real Living Wage (RLW) hourly rate as set by the Living Wage Foundation and will apply a pay supplement if the national A4C hourly rate falls below this.
ResponsibilitiesThe role provides the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills across a range of mental health conditions and settings, including:
- Eating disorders, anxiety, psychosis, and depression
- Assessment and short-term treatment focus within Coral and Indigo Ward and the future Integrated Eating Disorder Unit
- Engagement in activities to support patient wellbeing, including arts/crafts and other therapeutic activities
Key duties include:
- Working as part of an established, friendly, integrated multidisciplinary team
- Receiving support, direction and supervision from senior Occupational Therapy staff
- Demonstrating an understanding and application of the 6 C’s:

Competence;
Communication;
Courage and Commitment
Essential and desirable criteria as described in the Trust’s person specification:
- Good understanding of occupational therapy and mental health conditions
- Enthusiastic, with a person-centred approach
- Previous experience in occupational therapy or with individuals experiencing mental health conditions is advantageous
- An interest in arts/crafts and activities to engage patients with mental health conditions is essential
- Enthusiastic, passionate, adaptable and highly motivated
- Willingness to work within an established MDT and to engage with supervision
