Are you naturally caring, patient and someone people feel comfortable around? Would you like a job where the small things you do each day can make a real difference to someone’s independence and wellbeing?

The role

Making Space is looking for friendly and reliable Support Workers – Domiciliary Care to join our new home care service across Ellesmere Port and Chester.

This is not a role where every day looks the same. You will visit adults in their own homes, getting to know them as individuals and providing the practical support they need to live as independently as possible.

You do not need previous care experience or formal qualifications. If you have the right attitude and values, we will give you the training and support you need to get started.

Guaranteed contracts of 15–30 hours per week are available, with opportunities to pick up regular overtime. Shifts are between 7am and 11pm, including some weekends.

You will need access to your own car or bike. Drivers receive 40p mileage between calls, plus a £250 bonus after their first month.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on the person you are supporting, your day could include:

  • Helping with personal care and everyday routines
  • Supporting with medication
  • Preparing meals
  • Helping with household tasks
  • Encouraging independence and choice
  • Offering reassurance, companionship and a friendly face
  • Most importantly, you will take the time to understand what matters to each person.
About our company

Making Space is a values-based charity supporting people across Cheshire West and Chester.

We work closely with local authorities and health and social care professionals to provide care built around each individual. Our values – Kind Hearts, Tailor Making, Dreaming Big, Having Courage and Being Ready – shape how we work every day.

The Benefits

You will receive:

  • Up to 28 days’ holiday including bank holidays, pro rata
  • Double pay on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day
  • Pension with at least 3% employer contribution
  • Statutory sick pay from day one
  • Access to up to 30% of your wages as you earn
  • Lifestyle, health and travel benefits
  • Funded Level 2–6 qualifications and ongoing training
  • Genuine opportunities to progress internally
The person

You do not need a long CV in care. We are looking for someone who is kind, dependable, patient and able to connect with people.

A good sense of humour, a positive approach and the ability to adapt to different people and situations will go a long way.

Successful applicants will complete DBS, reference and employment checks and must have the right to live and work in the UK.

What’s next
