To provide safe, reliable, and person-centred support to a young person in the community, helping them participate in social and recreational activities, develop independence skills, maintain routines, and access activities safely. The Person al Assistant will support the individual's wellbeing, encourage engagement in interests and hobbies, promote independence, and ensure their safety while out and about and in the community.

The individual is friendly, enjoys engaging with their interests, and benefits from support to access activities safely and confidently. They may require assistance with understanding information and making safe decisions in certain situations, so clear communication, patience and a supportive approach are important.

The successful Personal Assistant will help promote independence, encourage participation in meaningful activities, and provide appropriate support to enable the individual to enjoy community and leisure opportunities while maintaining their wellbeing and safety.

  • Provide person-centred support to enable the individual to access community, leisure and recreational activities.
  • Accompany the individual to activities, appointments and outings as agreed.
  • Encourage and support the development of independence, confidence and life skills.
  • Assist with planning and participating in meaningful activities that reflect the individual's interests and preferences.
  • Support the individual to follow established routines and maintain consistency in daily activities.
  • Promote safety and wellbeing when accessing the community and participating in activities.
  • Provide clear communication and reassurance, adapting communication methods where required to support understanding.
  • Support the individual to make informed choices and decisions where appropriate.
  • Follow agreed support plans, risk assessments and employer guidance at all times.
  • Monitor wellbeing during support sessions and respond appropriately to any health or safety concerns in line with agreed procedures and training.
  • Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality and respect for the individual's privacy and dignity.
  • Keep accurate records of hours worked and any relevant information as required by the employer.
