Bluestones Medical is currently recruiting experienced Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) to support Countess of Chester Hospital through our Direct Engagement partnership with Plus Us
.
This is an excellent opportunity for skilled ODPs looking for flexible agency work within a busy hospital environment, offering the opportunity to work within a highly experienced theatre team while maintaining flexibility around your lifestyle.
As an ODP, you will play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their perioperative journey, providing high-quality care across anaesthetics, surgery and recovery. You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality perioperative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Work across anaesthetic, scrub and recovery areas as required.
- Assist anaesthetists with the preparation, induction and maintenance of anaesthesia.
- Provide skilled support within the operating theatre environment.
- Prepare and maintain specialist equipment required for surgical procedures.
- Monitor patient wellbeing throughout the perioperative pathway.
- Support safe patient transfer between theatre, anaesthetic and recovery areas.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
- Ensure infection prevention and control standards are maintained.
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary theatre team.
- Deliver care in line with HCPC standards, hospital policies and professional guidelines.
- Registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with a valid HCPC registration.
- Recent UK hospital theatre experience.
- Experience working within anaesthetics, scrub and/or recovery.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative care pathways.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced theatre environment.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Ability to provide satisfactory employment references.
- Up-to-date mandatory training (or willingness to complete).
