We are looking for an experienced Commodity Buyer – Buildings & Construction to lead end-to-end procurement activities across our UK and international infrastructure portfolio.
The RoleIn this role, you will take ownership of major call-for-tenders, strategic sourcing, and contract negotiations for high-value construction services—including architects, structural engineering, main contractors, project managers, and control firms. You will be responsible for driving multi-million-pound capital projects across a wide variety of facility types, from offices and canteens to technical buildings, clean rooms, and industrial hangars.
Key Accountabilities- Lead end-to-end tender processes and implement robust commodity strategies aligned with broader business objectives.
- Manage a contract portfolio valued between €15M – €40M, with annual spend placement averaging €25M across ~80 key suppliers (Signing delegation authority up to €250K).
- Drive annual savings initiatives through specification challenges, demand management, volume aggregation, and commercial negotiations.
- Negotiate and execute national and international frame agreements, monitor supplier performance against strict time/cost/quality KPIs, and manage risk mitigation.
- Act as a trusted commercial advisor to internal project teams, guiding stakeholders through compliant procurement frameworks to ensure maximum value and operational delivery.
- Support the rollout and optimization of e-procurement platforms and e-catalogues.
Education:
- Master's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or Architecture/Construction (or equivalent commercial experience).
- 5+ years of hands‑on procurement, operations, or facility management experience, with a proven track record specifically in the Building & Construction category.
- Advanced negotiation skills, deep understanding of construction contracts, and strong financial analytical capabilities (business cases, financial KPIs).
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional project teams, manage vendor relationships, and navigate competing stakeholder priorities.
- Pragmatic, solution‑oriented, autonomous, and diplomatic, with an uncompromised commitment to ethics and compliance.
Skills:
Business fluent in English (required); working knowledge of French, German, or Spanish is an advantage.
