Field/Service Technician, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

Field Service EngineerA hands‑on field‑based role to repair our parcel lockers on client sites; tasks include break‑fix, maintenance, software configuration, quality control, and providing technical support and training to employees and subcontractors. You will also be actively involved in developing new solutions and maintaining technical documentation.
What you’ll be doing- Diagnosing and repairing faults and malfunctions of parcel locker machines (APMs) on site, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Maintenance and modernisation of parcel locker machines, including implementing hardware and software upgrades to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Diagnosing, reconfiguring, and installing computer software or firmware for computer, electronic, and electromechanical equipment, ensuring compatibility and security compliance.
- Processing and reporting on assigned repairs using the communication channels utilised within the organisation.
- Managing tools and components for parcel locker machines.
- Handling systems for managing personnel‑related matters.
- Quality control of work performed by internal employees and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to technical standards, contractual agreements, and company guidelines.
- Providing technical and substantive support to employees and subcontractors (including international ones) via communication and IT channels used within the company.
- Participating in the development of solutions for new types of parcel locker machines.
- Preparing and updating technical manuals and documentation.

- Similar experience in a field‑service technical engineering role on electrical/mechanical equipment.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing equipment, with experience in software configuration and firmware updates.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for resolving complex technical issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide technical training.
- Ability to manage tasks efficiently, ensuring quality and meeting deadlines across multiple markets.
- High accuracy in quality control and documentation updates.
- Experience working with diverse teams, including international subcontractors and internal staff.
- Flexibility to travel for service and training activities both in the UK and occasionally internationally.
- Familiarity with parcel locker or similar systems, electromechanical devices, and organisational IT tools.
- Effective time management and the ability to handle tools and components responsibly.

This role will require occasional training and visits to our office base in Hemel Hempstead and will need to be located near or within the North Wales/Chester area to focus on covering this patch area.
Working hours:
8.30am – 5.30pm, 40‑hour working week.
