Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our diverse and inclusive team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing planned maintenance, diagnosing faults, and addressing breakdowns within a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Your contribution will ensure the smooth operation of equipment and contribute to the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our operations.

Salary and Benefits
Salary: £48,000 - £50,000 + on‑call allowance (~£3,000) + overtime
Working Pattern:
Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm (37.5 hours per week). Expect 70 hours of shutdown overtime (twice per year) plus an average of 15 hours monthly OT.
Holidays: 33 days inclusive of bank holidays.
Day-to-day
As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, your daily activities will include:
Conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance on mechanical systems.
Troubleshooting and resolving issues to minimize equipment downtime.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain optimal plant performance.
Maintaining detailed and accurate maintenance records.
Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Responsibilities
Perform diagnostics, repairs, and adjustments on mechanical systems.
Monitor and maintain the condition of operational machinery and equipment.
Identify and recommend improvements for reliability and efficiency in systems and processes.
Carry out risk assessments and adhere to safety standards during all tasks.
Participate in system upgrades and process enhancements as needed.
Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise and a passion for delivering excellence. Requirements include:
Education & Certification: A recognized technical qualification (such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
A proven track record in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Technical
Skills:
Strong knowledge of maintenance practices, fault-finding techniques, and working with motors and mechanical systems.
Safety Awareness: A strong understanding of health and safety standards, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
Personal Attributes:
Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to teamwork.
