Dutton Recruitment (Sheffield Engineering) is recruiting a Fabrication Engineer based in St Helens. Immediate start available (subject to interview process). Salary: £40,000 to £55,000 per annum (depending on experience).
Key Responsibilities- Confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Create fabrication drawings.
- Work from client specifications and produce shop‑ready drawings.
- Understand tolerances, weld symbols, and surface finishes.
- Competent in relevant engineering and drawing software packages.
- Welding processes.
- Cutting, drilling and forming techniques.
- Assembly methods.
- Jigging and sequencing of work.
- Material traceability requirements.
- Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Clearly explain drawings and technical information to workshop staff.
- Identify potential issues early and communicate practical solutions.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Manage workload effectively and maintain high standards of quality.
- Time‑served Fabricator/Welder who has progressed into an engineering role.
- Strong understanding of fabrication and workshop processes.
- Experience producing fabrication drawings and supporting production teams.
