Welder Fabricator
Location:
Chester
Shift Pattern:
Days 6:45am-4:15pm Mon‑Thurs (36 hour working week)
Salary: £35,773 + Pension + Overtime

Job PurposeLooking for a skilled Welder Fabricator with experience in welding steel products to join our team. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in welding various steels (e.g., mild, stainless) and a strong interest in expanding their skills to include welding lead products. This role requires a commitment to maintaining high‑quality standards and adherence to safety protocols, particularly when working with new materials.
Key Responsibilities- Welding and Fabrication:
- Perform welding and fabrication of steel products (mild steel, stainless steel, etc.) using MIG, TIG, and ARC welding techniques.
- Work closely with senior welders and management to develop skills in welding lead and other specialized materials.
- Cut, shape, and assemble metal components based on engineering drawings and specifications.
- Ensure all welds on steel products meet high standards of quality and precision.
- Training and Development:
- Undertake training on welding lead products, learning safety protocols and techniques required for working with lead.
- Collaborate with the team and attend training sessions to continuously improve skills in welding different materials.
- Technical Expertise:
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, schematics, and welding symbols for steel fabrication.
- Operate and maintain welding and fabrication equipment, ensuring tools and machinery are used safely and efficiently.
- Perform quality checks on completed welds to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Team
Collaboration:- Support the production team by working closely with engineers and other welders to meet project deadlines.
- Share knowledge of steel welding techniques with less experienced colleagues and be open to learning new methods from others.
- Contribute to process improvements and suggest ways to optimize fabrication processes.
- Health and Safety:
- Follow health and safety regulations, especially while learning to work with hazardous materials like lead.
- Ensure the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during all tasks and comply with company safety standards.
- Participate in training focused on safe handling of lead products.
- NVQ Level 3 in Welding, Fabrication, or a related field.
- Proven experience in welding steel, including mild steel and stainless steel.
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and ARC welding techniques.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and welding symbols.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
- Willingness to learn welding techniques for lead products, including safety protocols for working with hazardous materials.
- Good manual dexterity and ability to work precisely.
