We are recruiting Store Assistants for our new store team at IKEA Chester, CH1 4QG
. At IKEA, no two days are the same. One moment you'll be helping customers find the perfect solution for their home, the next you'll be serving smiles in our Bistro, supporting click-and-collect orders, or keeping our store looking its very best. - Start Date of employment: 24th August 2026
- Hourly rate: £13.45 per hour
- Work schedules: 12 hours weekly (3 days over 7 and 3 in 4 weekends) or 16 hours weekly (4 days over 7 and 3 in 4 weekends)
- Working hours between 7 am to 8:30 pm

- Ability to multitask, manage workload, and collaborate effectively
- Use initiative to analyse the shop floor and prioritise with the customer at the centre
- Strong customer-first mindset and enjoyment of varied daily tasks
- Retail or customer service experience is helpful; proactive, hands-on attitude is key
- Confidence using computers and technology to support day-to-day tasks
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, able to prioritise and remain composed in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in food service or food safety is an advantage but not required
- Ability to bring transferable skills and apply them confidently in food areas; we provide training in food-safety practices
- Adopt a flexible approach to working and be part of a store team responsible for all areas of the small store (customer-facing roles such as sales, checkouts, returns, fulfilment and food service in the Bistro)
- Use the IKEA vision to prioritise the customer experience by interacting with guests and promoting products to align with their needs
- Support maximising sales by ensuring all areas of responsibility are clean, fully stocked, priced, well presented and easy to shop (some products may involve heavy lifting)
- Carry out manual handling and heavy lifting of stock, using pump trucks and trolleys safely and efficiently
- Use appropriate stock ordering processes and systems to secure quality ingredients, support food safety, reduce waste and pick and prepare customer orders in a timely manner
- Ensure safety protocols and regulations are followed for a secure environment for customers and co-workers
