eagle Controls Opportunity: HVAC Controls Estimator eagle Controls is seeking qualified professionals to join our Controls team. eagle Controls uses the most advanced, user-friendly automation systems in the market. eagle designs, builds, programs and commissions building automation system projects for new or existing construction across a variety of markets. IMI’s acquisition of eagle Controls in 2018 helped complete our unique offering of beginning-to-end mechanical system delivery.
eagle Controls is headquartered in Chesterfield, MO and has offices in Granite City, IL, Nashville, TN, and Charlotte, NC. We are currently looking for an HVAC Controls Estimator to join our Controls team. The location for this position is flexible and can be based anywhere, depending on project needs and assignments. Our ideal candidate for a HVAC Controls Estimator will be detail-oriented with the ability to interpret project specifications, perform accurate material takeoffs, and select appropriate equipment.
They should be a collaborative team player, capable of working closely with sales, engineering, and project management teams to develop competitive and successful project bids.
- Analyzing project plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine scope and requirements.
- Attending pre-bid meetings and conducting site visits to assess existing conditions.
- Developing detailed cost estimates including materials, labor, subcontractor quotes, and equipment.
- Creating bid scopes of work for both plan & spec and design-build projects.
- Collaborating with internal teams (sales, engineering, project management) and external vendors.
- Maintaining and updating cost databases and unit pricing for labor and materials.
- Preparing and presenting estimate summaries and supporting documentation.
- Staying current with industry trends, product pricing, and technology developments.
- Negotiating pricing with vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive bids.
- Working closely with the Director of Pre-Construction to review bids and formatting.
Primary qualifications for eagle’s HVAC Controls Estimator include:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 2 years of experience in estimating or building automation systems (HVAC, DDC, BAS).
- Familiarity with energy management systems and integration platforms is preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar design tools is preferred.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and electrical schematics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with estimating software is a plus.
- Knowledge of industry standards and codes (ASHRAE, NEC, etc.) is considered advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- OSHA 10 certification and valid driver’s license preferred.
