Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant

Grade/Scale:
Support Pay Scale - Grade 8 (Points 12 - 15), Actual Salary £25,556 - £27,252 per annum
Contract:
37 hours per week, term time only
- Assist permanently excluded pupils with learning and engagement at Chesterfield secondary sites.
- Support pupils in lessons to engage in their learning and support pupils at break and lunch times.
- Work with small groups or one-to-one as directed by the class teacher or site lead.
- Be allocated to a tutor group; contribute to a small staffing team to ensure the site runs smoothly.
- may involve stepping up to deliver lessons in staff absence.
- Classes are small, with approximately 10 pupils.
- Good knowledge and experience of working with disaffected pupils in a school or other alternative setting.
- Affinity for pupils with behaviour, emotional and social difficulties.
- Resilient with high expectations and a positive mindset; able to build positive relationships and think creatively.
- Willingness to contribute to the life of the school and safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- A growth mindset and ability to work as part of a small team; may be required to deliver lessons in staff absence.
The role may involve travel to other academy sites for meetings, Inset and CPD. Daily access to a car with business use included on insurance is required. Mileage claims for travel are included. May be required to transport pupils in own car, carry out some home learning or safe and well visits for non-attenders to support the pastoral team.
